ELEVEN
Production Company: Hi-Concept Films (Fernando Beltran y Puga was Executive Producer)
Director: Neil McCay
Genre: Drama
ALL RIGHTS AVAILABLE
“Eleven” is inspired by the actual events surrounding the making of (arguably) the worst movie ever made, “Manos: The Hands of Fate”. It is true that “Manos” was made in a small town (El Paso, Texas) by a local fertilizer salesman who had made a bet with an acquaintance in the movie business. This film features an ensemble cast of eleven actors and actresses (hence the film’s title) who eventually are inextricably linked in one way or another to each other and to a small town’s big event of the year: the premiere of a low-budget film made by a local businessman.
Eleven has received critical acclaim for its ambitious scope and its elegant complexity in the use of symbolism and metaphors to convey the meaning of the film. Critics said this about Eleven: "a very ambitious film", "Eleven is well on its way to gaining a cult following - If not a mainstream one", and "Truly a work of love".
